In addition to the reasons related to installation and alignment, there may be the following reasons:

 

(1) The lubricating oil level is below the required level. When viewed through the oil sight glass, the oil pointer is below 1/2 of the sight glass.

 

(2) Issue with lubricant grade. There are various types of lubricants, and selecting an inappropriate lubricant grade (viscosity) can cause problems.

 

(3) The lubricating oil is dirty, mixed with impurities, and has deteriorated.

 

(4) Wear of bearing platform and bearing bush.

 

(5) The fit clearance between the bearing platform and the bearing bush is not appropriate.

 

(6) Poorly opened oil sacs affect the flow of oil and the formation of oil film.

 

(7) Poor cooling causes the sliding bearing to heat up.

 

Self-lubricating sliding bearings generally rely on the bearing housing for heat dissipation. Damage to the heat dissipation ribs on the housing or deterioration of the heat dissipation conditions can lead to increased bearing temperature. For bearings with cooling water pipes, overheating can also occur due to the influence of cooling water temperature and quantity. If the cooling water is not clean, overheating can also occur due to blockages in the cooling water pipes. Therefore, it is necessary to regularly monitor changes in cooling and heat dissipation conditions, pay attention to clean water quality, and dredge or replace blocked water pipes.
